hank’s world
Welcome to my world—above you see the two most important people in my life: my wife Rebecca and my daughter Kristen. You see also some landscapes that are important to me: on the left, Tower Falls in Yellowstone National Park, standing in for all the wild places of the world; and on the right, the hills of the San Francisco Bay area where I currently reside—but, more importantly, as Rebecca’s doctoral robes show, the landscape of words and ideas that shapes my vocation as a writer and a human being.
Though I myself completed my own Permanent head Damage in 2006, my passion lies in fiction and poetry. The first part of my novel Speaker for the God, my take on the life of the biblical prophet Jeremiah, is available for download from its own website; if there’s interest, I may put more of the work there, even as I look for more traditional publication opportunities. In the works currently is a series of novels, tentatively titled The Tribes of Yahweh, set in the formative years of ancient Israel as it emerged from Canaanite society around 1200 B.C. The first book in that series, The Cave God, is largely completed and a look at it should be available via this website later this year.
